Do you still believe that there are only four skin types that everyone could have? Why should you know your skin type exactly?
I bought and used several products that went viral online, but I haven't found one that fits on my skin yet. It didn't work, and I've only experienced side effects from the products. The founder, Helena Rubinstein, is a Polish-born American entrepreneur who founded a cosmetics company named after her and classified it as dry, normal, oily, and sensitive skin types based on the amount of sebum secretion of the skin.
At the time, it was not the idea of medical personnel, but it was the idea of a business person. It was not a standard classification for medical people, but still, it's a common classification for consumers today from consumers who used the product at that time.
Leslie Baumann, M.D.
Known for her book 'The Skin Type Solution,' Leslie Baumann founded the Cosmetics Dermatology Center at the University of Miami in 1997 as an American dermatologist. Also, a writer and researcher based in Miami, Florida, and is the founder and CEO of the Baumann Cosmetics Institute.
Based on years of clinical experience in the clinic, she categorised skin types into four main types: dry vs. oily, sensitive vs. resistant, pigmented vs. non-pigmented, and wrinkled vs. tight. She then sorted out 16 skin types in each combination.
